Shiodome Sio Site - Tokyo skyscraper

Shiodome Sio Site is the area between Shinbashi, Ginza and Tokyo bay. It was known as train station in the old days, but Tokyo ward made a redevelopment program so that this area becomes famous about the skyscraper.

Many companies located their headquarters in Shiodome, some of them are a leading advertising agent - Dentsu and a broadcaster - Nohon TV.

Ginza Christmas Decoration

Although most of Japanese are non-religious or Buddhists, it celebrates Christmas day.

Ginza, the most popular shopping district, has turned to the Christmas color with lights, lights, lights.

Well known Christmas decoration is a Jeweller Mikimoto's Christmas tree. Another is a Department Store Mitsukoshi's building.

Hibiya Patio - backyard in buildings

Hibiya is a business area where is close to Ginza shopping district and Kasumigaseki Government town.

There is a patio, called Hibiya Patio, which surrounded by buildings. It exhibits arts in container boxes.

It is a good place to bring my laptop and work when the weather is nice.

Mishima Taisha Shrine

Mishima Taisha Shrine is located in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is a shinto shrine and one of the biggest shrine in this region.

A figure who made this shrine famous is Minamoto Yoritomo. When he was exciled from Kyoto, he worshipped at Mishima Taisha.

Harumi Triton Square

Harumi Triton Square is located in Harumi where the waterfront area in Tokyo. It is a office building with restaurants and shops.

On the weekend, it is a great spot to have a cafe at the terrace or to take a walk along sumida river.

This building is often used in films, TV dramas and CMs as the permission can be granted easily.

Ueno Onshi Park - lots of museum

Ueno Onshi Park is located near Ueno Station. There are the most famous zoo in Japan and lots of museums and galleries in the park.

Compared to other parks which locate near JR stations in the central Tokyo, this park is very big. Historically, Ueno park is one of the first park in Japan.

It is busy in the morning as some kindergarten kids queue in front of the zoo, others rush in to those museums.

Hiroo Crossing and Gaien Nishi Street

Hiroo is located between Ebisu and Azabu, it is a popular town among foreigners in Tokyo.

There are some embassies around this area and supermarkets which sell import foods and goods. So it is very convenient for foreigners.

The main street is called Gaien Nishi Dori and an old style high street called Sanpo dori is connected.

Omotesando Shopping Street

Omotesando is a shopping street which lies between Harajuku and Aoyama districts.

There are many fashion stores both for young and adults. There are cheap stores, like GAP and HM, on the other hand, designers shops which include Armani, Comme des garcons etc.

The street itself is rather beautiful with ginkgo trees aroung the street. The trafic is quite heavy as it is crossed to route 246 which is one of the main road in Tokyo.

Ebisu Garden Place

Ebisu Garden Place was built in 1994 and it offers shoppinng (Mitsukoshi department store), restaurants, hotel, office and residential buildings.

It is located between Ebisu and Meguro Station and it can be accessed by moving walk.

When this complex opened, it was one of the largest redevelopment project in Tokyo, but visiting after 15 years of its launch, I feel it is a little out of date.

Nakameguro Park

Nakameguro park is located near Meguro river in Tokyo . It is quite small but new and clean so that families prefer to play in this park.

It becomes difficult to find grass covered ground in central Tokyo. It might be a good idea to have lunch in the park like picnic.

Yushima Tenmangu Shrine

Yushima Tenmangu Shrine, which is commonly known as Yushima Tenjin, was originally established in 458. The main building was rebuilt in 1995, so it looks new.

The size of the shrine is medium and it consists of two parts which are the shrine and the plum garden.

Yushima tenjin is related to Michizane Sugawara who is said a god of study. As a result, many students visited to pray.

Yokohama Oosanbashi Wharf

Yokohama Oosanbashi wharf is a main part of Yokohama port. It has built in 1889 and renovated in 2002 when the Football World Cup was taken place.

The wharf is quite large and has 450m in length. The top is covered by wooded deck and called Whale's back.

The scenery from this wharf is something that I should mention. You can see Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 building complex towards west, Bay Bridge towards east and Yamashita Park towards south.

Eco Car World 2009 in Yokohama

Eco Car World 2009 is a event that introduces the latest technologies of eco friendly vehicle.

Even though the world has been suffered a huge economic crisis, the sales of eco friendly vehicles are sharply increasing. Companies, organizations and universities are all keen to develop next generation of eco friendly vehicles.

There are not only Toyota's Prius but also electric powered, fuel-cell, natural gas and LPG vehicles. The event was taken place in Akarenga Soko, Yokohama.

Kasumigaseki Japanese Government

Kasumigaseki is the area where government affiliated agencies are located.

The area is in the center of Tokyo and close to the Imperial Palace. There are many workers on week days but few people on the weekend.

Several buildings are owned by the government in this area. It is good to take a walk around on the weekend.

Akihabara Entertainment Town

Akihabara is the center of new generation Japanese pop culture, such as Anime, Manga, Idol now. But it is also known as the best place to buy electrical goods.

There are more people in Akihabara recently, even if it is on week days. In the past, there are some electrical parts shops and the town itself is not really entertaining for poeple in general.

I went to Akihabara for shopping. The station has been renovated and other parts of the town are also being develoed tall buildings.

There are lots of electrical goods resellers and Anime shops on the main street which is called Chuo Street.

Tamachi and Mita Station

This video introduce around Tamachi and Mita station area. Tamachi is a JR station that has Yamanote and Keihin Tohoku line, Mita station has Toei Mita and Asakusa line.

This area is a small business district. NEC HQ and Mitsubishi Motors HQ are located in this district. There is Keio unversity which is famous.

On the weekend, there are less people and becomes very quiet.

Shinagawa Station - Konan, Takanawa Exit

Shinagawa station is a hub station and there are several JR lines and Keikyu line. They are Tokaido Shinkansen, Keihin Tohoku line, Yamanote line etc.

There are 2 main entrances which are Konan (south) and Takanawa (north).

On Konan Exit. side, there are several buildings and famous companies have their offices especially in Shinagawa Intercity Building. Sony HQ is located in this area and NTT Data, NTT Docomo have their buildings.

On Takanawa Exit. side, there are several hotels that are Price Hotel, Hotel Pacific and so on.

Compared to the amount of people who use this station, there are no amusing spots around the station.

Shirokane Global Festa

I visited a festival called Shirokane Global Festa that took place in the area called Shirokane Takanawa.

Shirokane Takanawa is the expensive residential area in the heart of central Tokyo where close to Azabu.

Even though the festival called -Global-, it was quite a Japanese style one. I feel that summer is coming.

Oimachi - ordinary town

Oimachi is a quite big town as there are 3 rails that are Keihin-Tohoku, Tokyu-Oimachi and Rinkai.

But compared to the amount of people who use this town, the town itself is not well known among the people in Tokyo. Because Oimachi has nothing to tell about.

I filmed around Oimachi station, there are japanese biggest electrical goods reseller called Yamada-Denki and small Izakaya bars.

IKEA Kohoku in Yokohama

IKEA, one of the world's largest funiture shop, came to Japan some years ago. I went to IKEA Kohoku which is located in North Yokohama, the closest shop to Tokyo.

There have been a few shops in Japan, so not yet well known. But there are no cheap funiture chains in Japan so I guess it will be popular.

Harumi wharf Sunset - Tokyo Bay

Harumi wharf is located in Tokyo bay area. It is very small but one of the nearest wharf from the center of Tokyo. I went to the Harumi Wharf Park to have BBQ party with my friends.

I shoot the footage of the view from the wharf to buildings in central Tokyo and Rainbow Bridge at sunset time. The reflection of the sunset lights is very beautiful.

Hiroo Arisugawa Park

This video guides you about Arisugawa no Miya Memorial Park in Hiroo, Tokyo.

Hiroo is very popular residential area between foreigners in Japan. The park, which has very long name, is quite large which size is 6.8 ha with many trees and a pond.

I went to the Tokyo Central Library which is a part of this park. It has 5 floors with some desks.

My faivorite supermarket, National Azabu Market, is located nearby the park, so it is very convenient place for me to visit.

Cherry blossoms short life

Last week in Japan, cherry blossoms season started and it is finishing this week. Cherry blossoms only last for a week or so, this is why people are waiting for the season for a year.

I went to Kano river in Izu to say good-bye to cherry blossoms.

Some of them are already turned green which is the sign of the season end.

Cherry blossoms in Shinagawa

It gets warm these days and spring has come in Japan.

I went to Shinagawa, Tokyo to see cherry blossoms in Gotenyama garden. This garden is very small and one part of the hotel and residential building complex.

There are not many cherry trees than I expected, but the garden itself is very beautiful.

Skyscraper and Sunset This skyscraper is filmed from 40th floor of Roppongi Hills building in Tokyo. It is beautiful sunset and you can see the Tokyo's buildings at glance. This video is very short, 11 seconds clip.
Wating for a train I am wating a train at Totsuka station on Tokaido line train in order to change from Yokosuka line. It is getting colder and colder these days, even I wait only for 5 mins at the platform.
Mouri Japanese Garden Mouri garden is a Japanese garden which is located in Roppongi, Tokyo. It is a part of Roppongi Hills buildings complex. The gap between the traditional Japanese and the modern buildings is very unique.
Yellow turned Ginkgo trees The leaves on the Ginkgo trees are turned yellow, I stopped my bike to feel winter. The trees are stood on the street in Shirokane where is a very posh place in Tokyo. Some leaves are already dropped so the trees soon become naked.
Jiyugaoka Town Jiyugaoka is in west Tokyo where one of the most popular residential area in Tokyo.
Kumano Shrine The path to the shrine is very unique and well designed. Kumano shrine is located in Jiyugaoka.
Sweets Shops Sweets Forest is a sweets shop mall where is many cake and dessert shops. I love sweets and cakes.
Artificial Venice La-Vita in Jiyugaoka Tokyo is a very small artificial Venice. It is a shopping building but often used for filming.
Public Bath Onsen I went a public bath called SENTO in Tsunashima, Kanagawa. Many of Sento have been closed recently as Japanese lifestyle is getting westernized. This Sento is hot spring bath and most of the customers are eldery people. The Sento's name is Tsunashima Onsen.
Roppongi Christmas The season of Christmas illumination has come. One of the most popular illumination in Tokyo is Keyaki-zaka roppongi. I have rented a space in Roppongi Hills Building and I pass this street almost everyday.
Horse-Race in Ooi I went to Ooi Horse Race Course to waste my money!! There are 2 Horse Race Organization in Japan which are Central and Local. This race course called Ooi is in the local organization and open by the evening. Whether you play Central or Local, no differences to waste your money!!
Izakaya Shinbashi Shibashi is the place where Salary-man (business man) gather. They come to Shinashi to have Sake (drinks). Thier faivorite bars are called Izakaya which is very casual and homely Japanese style bars. The video is the one when we looked for nice Izakaya.
Shinjuku Buildings I am in Shinjuku. Famous for the buildings in west Shinjuku area. It is at night and to dark to film though. Can you see the buildings??
Green-car train Green-car is the 1st class car of Japanese train. I use a green car of the local Tokaido-line train. no one is using the car. Very comfortable!!
